Along the Tyrrhenian coast, landscapes become more rugged and light more intense, from the clear waters of Sardinia to the dramatic shores of Calabria and Sicily. The journey ends in Palermo, where centuries of history, architecture and Mediterranean life come together.

Along the way, the rhythm of the journey changes with the scenery, from the countryside around Rome to the rugged landscapes of Basilicata and Calabria. As the train approaches the coast, the Mediterranean comes into view before the journey continues towards Taormina and Sicily, where the colours, flavours and landscapes of the south take centre stage.
